Terms & Conditions

Effective date: 21 July 2026

Welcome to IdiomJar. By accessing or using idiomjar.online ("the website"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the website.

Use of the website

You may read, share and reference our content for personal, educational and non-commercial purposes. In using the website, you agree not to:

Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, the articles, layout, design and original graphics on this website are the property of IdiomJar and are protected by copyright. The IdiomJar name and logo are our marks.

Historical quotations, dictionary definitions and material reproduced from other sources remain the property of their respective owners and are quoted with attribution for commentary and scholarship, as described in our Disclaimer.

Quoting us — the short version

You're welcome to quote a paragraph or two of our work in an article, video, newsletter or classroom, provided you credit IdiomJar and link to the original page. What we ask you not to do is reproduce whole articles, or republish our research without attribution. If you'd like to use more than a short quotation, just ask us — we're reasonable people.

Content accuracy

We publish carefully researched material, but the study of word origins involves uncertainty, and evidence changes as archives are digitized. Content is provided "as is" without warranties of accuracy or completeness. Our confidence grading system and its limits are explained in the Disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.

User submissions

If you send us a message, correction or suggestion through the contact form or by email, you grant us permission to use it to improve the site — including quoting a correction in an updated article — unless you tell us otherwise. Please don't send us confidential information. We may decline or ignore submissions at our discretion.

Newsletter

Subscribing to our newsletter is voluntary, and every email includes an unsubscribe link. We may change the newsletter's format or frequency, or discontinue it, at any time. Subscriber data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

Advertising

This website is supported by advertising, which may include ads served by third-party networks such as Google. We are not responsible for the products, services or claims of advertisers, and the appearance of an advertisement is not an endorsement. Advertising does not influence our research or editorial conclusions.

Third-party links

The website links to external sites for reference and verification. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, policies or availability. Visiting a linked site is at your own risk and subject to that site's own terms.

Availability

We aim to keep the website available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the site — including individual articles — at any time without notice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IdiomJar and its contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss or damage arising out of your use of, or inability to use, this website or its content. Your use of the website is at your own risk.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with its effective date. Continued use of the website after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
